What Kind of Carpet Will Suit You?
Transcript:
Hi, Ian from Perry’s Flooring Solutions here. My grandmother had wool carpets.
Her mum probably had wool carpets. And if carpet was around, maybe her mum did too. Today’s world, it comes down to feel, colour, design, texture, all those things. So apart from all carpets, we now have manmade fibres like polyester, nylon, polypropylene.
Wool and nylon are the only two carpets that are fire rated. So if you have apartments or commercial situations, they’re the carpets you need to choose. Wool on the other hand can get fuzzy, can pill is the appropriate word. So if you have a wool carpet, wool can come out and can float around through your house. The manmade fibres, that doesn’t happen.
Polyester and nylon. Polyester sometimes is softer than nylon, but nylon is a lot more durable than the polyester carpet. So if you’re putting staircases, for example, nylon will work a lot better than a polyester carpet. Polypropylene carpets are fantastic because they’re budget entry level carpets. Perfect for rental properties, if you own an investment property, lay a polypropylene carpet and it’ll last for a long, long time. So at the end of the day, it all depends on which way you want to go, and the application.
Are you building new house? Are you selling your house? Are you renting a house? Or have you got a commercial situation? Based on all that information we can advise you at Parrys Flooring Solutions, should you have a wool or manmade fibre and which one to pick from. Come on down and see us.
We can give you a hand on that.
