How to Measure How Much Flooring You Need | Parrys Flooring Solutions
Transcript:
Hi, this is Ian from Parrys Flooring. Remember back at school days when you used to sit in those maths classes and you worked out areas of rectangles and squares, and you used to say, why would I ever do this again? Well, at Parrys we do that every day.
So people need to know how much to calculate their areas for their floors when they’re buying carpet, or they’re buying hard flooring. For carpet, what you do? Turn your house into rectangles and squares. Work out the area length times width for each one. Add all that up.
Now carpet comes in rolls 3.66m long. So if your room is a little bit less than that, you’re going to have some wastage. So with that and also rooms which are bigger than 3.66, there’ll be joins. So what we do is we add up all our square meters. We worked out and we add on about 10%. Bring that in.
That’s roughly a good guide to know how much flooring you need for carpet. For hard flooring, again areas, rectangles, squares, calculate it all, add it up. Add on about 6 to 7% wastage for all the cuts that we do of the boards. Bring that in. We can work out a rough quote for you.
Of course, if you come into any of one of our stores across Perth, bring in your measurements, your house plans and our professional flooring experts can work that out for you. Hope to see you soon.
